About
Johanis Lyons-Reid is a Malaysian-Australian director and cinematographer living and working on Kaurna land.
With an eye for the absurd, Johanis’ directorial work cleverly juxtaposes humour and pathos to uncover the schisms and faultlines of Australian identity. His cinematography is characterised by striking imagery that captures both the grittiness and ephemeral beauty of the everyday and the extraordinary. Passionate about creating compelling and unique stories, Johanis steps into the darkness to reveal the nature of our world.
